Technically winter isn’t until the 21st but I thought I’d get a jump on my reading list for the season in hopes that I will in fact read and finish a book this year! Blogmas continues with a collection of four books I’ve either started and need to finish or have yet to crack open.
I mentioned this book in my “How to Stay Inspired” post as suggested reading but have yet to read the entire book aside from some inspirational passages. I’m so excited to read this you guys! With where my head’s been at lately I need this book in my life like I need a boyfriend who loves Master Piece Theater as much as I do…direly!
2. #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso
I started reading “GIRLBOSS” for inspiration and guidance in my career. “#GIRLBOSS” tells Sophia Amoruso’s story of building Nasty Gal and eventually GIRLBOSS Media. Taking control of you’re future – as a woman – and fearlessly dreaming big isn’t easy to do and knowing what to do when you attempt to fulfill those dreams can be even more elusive. So, it’s a great reminder that everyone starts somewhere and even the most accomplished people don’t simply stumble upon success.
Another book I’ve started – if you follow me on Instagram you know I love this book with a passion but read it so slowly for fear of finishing it and losing it forever. This book taught me that if you’re creating content and working on your craft then you’re an artist. Being a successful artist means doing what you must to support your creative aspirations. You don’t need to live in a barren warehouse, hanging on by a thread if only for the art to be a “real” artist. Real artists are receptionists, gas station attendants, hell even sales reps at Topshop. Best lesson I learned is that wherever you are in your journey, live your artist life now.
4. The Woman I Wanted To Be by Diane Von Furstenberg
I think aside from “You Are A Badass” I’m most excited to read this book. Furstenberg is definitely not a new author but this is the first comprehensive autobiography detailing her emotional and intellectual journey becoming the woman she’s always wanted to be. I’m super stoked to read this book because I’m constantly working on doing instead of wishing, becoming the person I want to be instead of wishing that I was such and such amazing person.
What are you reading this winter? Let me know if you get cozy with one of the above. Here’s to rainy Sundays, flannel blankets, and curling up with a good book!
